Machias Wild Blueberry Festival
August 16, 2019 - August 18, 2019
FreeThe Machias Wild Blueberry Festival began 41 years ago with an idea from then, 19 year old Dwight Whitney Jr. He thought it would be a fun to have a festival to celebrate the harvest of the blueberry crop. That first year saw a few vendors, some blueberry pies, and a few other events. Boy, have they grown since their humble beginnings.
Blueberry Festival weekend has become a time for families to get together at “camp,” for visitors from all over the world to come see for themselves, the little corner of heaven right in Down East Maine.Come visit the Festival (and Forever Clean Soap of course) the third weekend in August for a WILDLY fun time!Come celebrate the powerful little fruit that put our corner of Downeast Maine on the map. Centre Street Congregational Church, UCC, rolls out the blue carpet each August with crafts, food, entertainment, contests, and all things blueberry. There’s no admission charge. We are on the Downeast part of Maine’s beautiful, rugged coast, two hours from Bangor, about an hour and a half from Bar Harbor, and a little more than an hour from St. Stephen, New Brunswick. From whale-watching to lighthouses, from hiking and kayaking to eagles and lobster rolls, our little corner of Maine has a lot to offer!
